How do I become eligible for the NCCT Tech in Surgery–Certified exam?

National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) — Tech in Surgery-Certified (NCCT) Certification Requirements

Any student who successfully completed this program either live on campus or online and are interested in pursuing the NCCT (TS-C) national certification exam must meet the following criteria to achieve certification:

  • Successfully meet all the requirements of the program and be issued a Surgical Technology certificate of completion from our accredited university partner, Champlain College Online

  • Complete a mandatory externship where you are required to complete 125 surgical cases, as verified by the clinical site using NCCT’s Tech in Surgery Critical Skills form. Once you’ve completed your program, our placement team will work with you to place you in your mandatory externship.

Job and Externship Placement Services

Whether or not you choose to pursue national certification, you’ll have access to externship placement support after completing the program. To qualify, you’ll need to successfully finish the program and pass a background check and drug screening. Our externship services help connect you with opportunities to gain the care hours needed to complete your training.You’ll have access to this support for up to six months after finishing your Preppy program.
